The catholic church as a custodian of authentic education established the college in the year 1960. The initial intake of students was 30 students. The school is blessed with massive hectares of land. With this, one can easily notice the large expanse of land, the ever-green football pitches, the luxuriant Ixora and whistling pines that friendly welcomes the visitors into the college.
The buildings are strategically aligned in their proper places: bringing harmony and scenic beauty to the natural environment. This massive site for our college was generously given to the church under Archbishop Hereey by Emene community for educational purposes. Since inception, the college has passed through quite a number of principals and seasoned administrators. That is why she can boast of producing renowned personalities scattered around the globe. With the catholic education centered on morality and academics, parents across the environs saw it as a solution to their problem towards the future of their children.
Unfortunately, smooth progress of the college was interrupted by the Nigerian-Biafra civil war which lasted for 3 years (1967-1970). Even after the war when the college was reopened, the crop of students that came in was nothing to write home about as many of them were war veterans; indiscipline and lawlessness became the order of the day. This chaotic situation was happily brought under control by serious minded principals like Rev. Fr. Charles Ikeme (aka Odobro).
Another deadly blow also came with government takeover of schools. Corrupt officials found their way into the college and subsequently promoted corruption, embezzlement, neglect of student and infrastructure, looting, dilapidation, robbery, cultism, to mention but a few. All these reigned supreme. This period of more than two decades can simply be described as dark years in the life of this God-given college.
The dawn of a new era came when the college was smoothly returned to her owner- the Catholic Church in 2009 under the administration of Gov. Sullivan Iheanacho Chime, the executive governor of Enugu State. Since then, the college administration has been making concerted effort to rise from this terrible collapse. There is now a dawn in the college. It is now the mission school it was once known for. Her major stakeholders (Church, Old Boys, Parents) are now poised for a total transformation of the college. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.
